PFAD stands for Palm Fatty Acid Distillate. It is a processing residue resulting from physical refining of crude palm oil products. At room temperature it is a light brown semi-solid, melting to a brown liquid on heating. 

PFAD contains 72.7–92.6% FFA, with a small amount of unsaponifiable components (1–2.5%) and the remainder neutral oil.

Palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) is a waste from extraction of palm oil. PFAD is used for production of biodiesel. The calorific value of PFAD biodiesel is 38600 MJ/kg while density is 879 kg/m3, flash point is 147 °C, viscosity is 3.96 mm2/s and cetane number is 49.
