Process Behind Palm Fatty Acid Distillate
Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) is a byproduct generated during the physical refining of crude palm oil. It consists primarily of free fatty acids, especially palmitic acid and oleic acid, along with smaller amounts of glycerides and minor bioactive compounds. During refining, crude palm oil is processed under controlled heating and vacuum conditions to remove impurities and volatile components, resulting in PFAD as a residue stream that is widely used in oleochemical and biofuel industries.
